History

It was founded inside 1928 as University Teaching within Jutland in schoolroom rented from either the Technical indicator College & a teaching corps consisting of a single prof of philosophy & quaternary Readers of Danish, English, German & French. Until so a University of Copenhagen was the just university around Denmark. Utilise of the title "The University of Aarhus" began inside 1933.

A university is organised around 5 faculties:

A Faculty of Arts, recently renamed a Faculty of Humanities, has offered courses correct from either a beginning within 1928.

Inside 1933 a Faculty of Medicine began its courses around basic medical cases. Once a dental school was involved around 1992 a title was changed to the Faculty of Health Sciences.

A Faculty of Economic science & Law was established inside 1936. A title was changed to the Faculty of Social Sciences whilst Political Science & Psychological science were added.

From either 1938 - 1940 Theodor Geiger was professor of sociology at the university -- Denmark's 1st ever prof of sociology.

A Faculty of Theology was established around 1942. Courses within theology experienced been offered from either 1932, existence antecedently taught at a Faculty of Arts.

A Faculty of Science was established inside 1954 by moving Physical science & Chemistry from either either a Faculty of Medicine & Geographics from a Faculty of Arts. Maths was established as a fresh subject, followed by Biology & Geology.

Inside 1997 professor Jens Christian Skou received the Nobel Prize for Chemistry for his discovery of the sodium-potassium pump.

Enrollment

Within 1999 a total of students passed 20,000 students & is however growing. Enrollment when of October One 2004 was 20,547. Every month supplementary than D international exchange students came to the University of Aarhus to learn for even of these or ii semesters.
